Square D (Schneider Electric) Switchgear Financing
Square D is one of the most widely specified names in commercial and industrial electrical distribution. If you are reading this, the spec probably already says Square D, or it should. The question is how to fund it without holding up the submittal or the order.
We finance Square D switchgear, switchboards, motor control centers, and circuit breaker assemblies for contractors, industrial owners, data center operators, and facilities teams with a schedule to keep. Transactions start at $50,000, the typical deal runs $100,000 to $150,000 and up, and we handle both new gear straight from a Schneider Electric distributor and surplus or refurbished Square D assemblies from the secondary market.
Square D's product line spans the Masterpact MTZ low-voltage switchgear system, the QED-2 switchboard platform, the Model 6 motor control center, and the PowerPact circuit breaker family. Most large commercial projects carry at least one of these. We know how they are specified and priced, which keeps the credit review moving.
Square D Equipment We Finance
The assemblies we see most often in Square D financing requests:
- Masterpact MTZ SwitchgearLow-voltage power circuit breaker systems for main service, generator paralleling, and distribution in commercial high-rises, hospitals, and data centers. Frame sizes from 630A up to 6300A.
- QED-2 SwitchboardsDistribution switchboards for commercial buildings, retail centers, and industrial facilities where a main service entrance or sub-distribution switchboard is needed up to 4000A, 480/277V.
- Model 6 Motor Control CentersNEMA Type 1 and Type 12 MCC lineups widely used in manufacturing, water and wastewater, and process industries. Bucket-style plug-in design with full starter, VFD, and soft-starter options.
- PowerPact Circuit BreakersMolded-case and insulated-case breakers commonly bundled into switchboard and panelboard packages or purchased as individual assemblies for upgrade projects.
- PM8000 Power Meters And Acti9 PanelboardsMonitoring and distribution gear that often rounds out a Square D package on commercial projects.
Package financing is common. We can combine the switchboard, MCC, and supporting breakers into a single transaction rather than handling each component separately.
Why Square D Financing Matters Right Now
Schneider Electric's supply chain has faced the same semiconductor and component pressures that hit the broader electrical equipment industry. Factory lead times on Masterpact MTZ lineups have stretched well beyond historical norms on complex assemblies. Placing an order early requires capital, and holding a purchase order for equipment that ships in 20-plus weeks is a real cash flow challenge for contractors and owners alike.
Progress and deposit financing addresses this directly. We fund the deposit at order placement, then fund the balance when the gear ships. You do not carry the deposit in your working capital for the duration of the manufacturing lead time.
For electrical contractors especially, carrying large equipment purchases on their own balance sheet while waiting for owner reimbursement can crowd out other project spending. Getting financing structured before the submittal goes in is the cleanest approach.
Refinancing And Sale-Leaseback On Existing Square D Equipment
Square D gear has a long service life. Switchboards from the 1990s are still running in commercial buildings. If you own Square D equipment already installed, there are two ways to access the value:
Refinancing: If you have an existing loan on Square D equipment and want to lower the payment or free up cash flow, equipment refinancing can restructure the term. This also works if the equipment was purchased outright and you want to leverage the asset.
Sale-leaseback: Sell the installed Square D gear to a financing company and lease it back in place. The equipment does not move; you get a lump sum. Useful for facilities that own their distribution gear outright and need capital for a new project or expansion. A sale-leaseback on switchgear is a clean transaction when the asset value is clear and the gear is in service.
Used Square D gear is also financeable on purchase, with condition and age taken into account. Used switchgear financing covers refurbished assemblies that come with a dealer warranty.
Credit And Documentation
The document requirement depends on transaction size. Under roughly $400,000, a one-page credit application is the primary ask. Application-only financing keeps the process lean for mid-range Square D packages. Larger transactions add three months of bank statements and may pull in a year or two of business tax returns.
B and C credit profiles are reviewed individually. A business with a difficult prior year, a stretch of thin revenue, or a tax lien on file can still qualify depending on the full picture. We do not have a hard floor that automatically screens out imperfect credit histories.
Approval to funding typically runs one to two weeks. For projects where the Square D order has a hard deposit deadline, let us know up front and we can compress the timeline.

Review Switchgear TermsCommon Questions on Square D (Schneider Electric) Switchgear Financing
Straight answers before you send the equipment file.
I have a Square D submittal package due next week. How fast can financing close?
Application-only transactions under $400,000 can fund in roughly seven to ten business days after submission. If you have a hard submittal deadline, let us know the date and we can prioritize the review. Having the credit application in as early as possible gives us the most runway.
The project owner is paying us progress billings. Can financing bridge the gap between when I buy the Square D gear and when I get paid?
Yes. Contractor bridge financing can be structured to cover the equipment purchase, with repayment timed to the progress billing schedule. This is a common structure for electrical contractors who are reimbursed by owners on a draw schedule.
Can I finance a Square D package that includes switchgear, an MCC lineup, and standalone breakers all together?
Yes. A full Square D package including switchgear, motor control center, and circuit breakers can be wrapped into a single transaction. This is generally simpler than financing each component separately and often results in a cleaner rate structure.
What if the Square D gear I need is on backorder and will not ship for six months?
Progress and deposit financing handles this. We fund the deposit now, then fund the balance when the gear ships and is delivered. You are not sitting on a deposit out of working capital for the duration of the lead time.
Can I do a sale-leaseback on Square D switchgear that is already installed and paid off?
Yes, as long as the equipment is verifiable, in service, and has identifiable value. We review the age, condition, and the installed configuration to determine what we can advance. The gear stays in place; the cash comes to you.
