GE / GE Vernova Switchgear Financing
GE's switchgear and power distribution business operates today under the GE Vernova brand following the company's separation. The equipment is the same well-established product family. PowerVac metal-clad switchgear, Entellisys low-voltage gear, and Multilin protective relays remain among the most widely installed assemblies in North American industrial and utility facilities.
We finance GE and GE Vernova switchgear, distribution equipment, and protective relays for contractors, industrial owners, and utility operators. Minimum transaction is $50,000; typical deals run $100,000 and up. Application-only financing is available up to roughly $400,000. Larger transactions add bank statements and, at higher amounts, business financials.
A significant volume of GE switchgear in the market is used or refurbished. GE's installed base is enormous, and surplus PowerVac gear, Entellisys assemblies, and AKR breaker panels circulate widely through specialty electrical dealers. Used equipment financing on tested and warranted GE assemblies follows the same process as new gear financing.
GE Equipment We Finance
GE's electrical product family spans a long range. The assemblies most often in our financing pipeline:
- PowerVac Metal-clad SwitchgearThe GE PowerVac is a vacuum circuit breaker-based metal-clad lineup for medium-voltage applications from 5kV to 15kV. Extensively installed in industrial facilities, hospitals, and institutional buildings from the 1980s through today. New PowerVac builds and refurbished assemblies both qualify for financing.
- Entellisys Low-voltage SwitchgearThe Entellisys platform uses GE's Arc Flash Energy Reduction System and centralized protection logic to provide both power circuit breaker functionality and arc flash reduction on a single platform. Common in critical facilities where arc flash compliance is an operational priority.
- Multilin Protective RelaysThe GE Multilin relay series covers feeder, motor, generator, transformer, and bus protection. The 750/760 feeder relay, 469 motor management relay, and 489 generator relay are among the most widely deployed relay families in the North American utility and industrial installed base.
- AKD Switchboards And PanelboardsGE distribution switchboards and panelboards bundled into commercial building and industrial projects.
GE Gear In The Current Market
The GE Vernova spin-off created some uncertainty in the market about long-term parts support and product continuity. In practice, GE Vernova continues to manufacture and support the established product lines, and the installed base is large enough that parts availability through both factory and aftermarket channels will remain robust for the foreseeable future.
For buyers financing a GE switchgear purchase, the brand transition is mostly administrative. The assemblies are the same, the product numbers carry over, and the warranty terms are comparable to what GE offered pre-separation. We verified this factbase before structuring financing around GE Vernova assets.
The larger commercial consideration is that the GE installed base creates a large refurbishment and replacement market. Facilities that have run GE PowerVac switchgear since the 1980s and 1990s are now on a replacement cycle. Medium-voltage switchgear replacements at aging industrial plants and institutional facilities are a significant and growing segment of our financing pipeline.
For utilities and electric cooperatives that have run GE gear in substations for decades, the replacement and upgrade financing conversation includes both new GE Vernova equipment and the question of whether to transition to a different manufacturer's platform.
Refinancing Existing GE Equipment
GE switchgear has a long service life. PowerVac gear from the 1990s is still operating in facilities across the country. If you carry GE equipment on your balance sheet, either with an existing lien or owned outright, there are ways to access the value.
Cash-out refinancing on installed GE gear can pull equity from equipment that has been partially paid down or purchased outright. This works when the remaining asset value supports a new advance against the equipment.
Sale-leaseback on GE switchgear converts an owned asset to cash without removing the equipment from service. The gear stays in place; you receive a lump sum; monthly lease payments replace the prior capital outlay. Useful for facilities facing a new capital project and needing to free up cash without selling operating assets.

Review Switchgear TermsCommon Questions on GE / GE Vernova Switchgear Financing
Straight answers before you send the equipment file.
GE just became GE Vernova. Does the brand transition affect my ability to finance GE switchgear?
No. The brand transition is administrative. We finance GE Vernova equipment under the same terms and process as GE-labeled equipment. The product lines, part numbers, and factory support continue, and the assets retain their value as collateral. The transition does not change the financing process.
I need refurbished GE PowerVac switchgear because new gear lead times are too long. Can used GE assemblies be financed?
Yes. Refurbished GE PowerVac gear that has been tested, reconditioned, and comes with a dealer or refurbisher warranty qualifies for financing. We verify the condition and age before structuring terms. Properly reconditioned PowerVac assemblies can have decades of remaining service life, which supports financing terms comparable to new gear in many cases.
Our facility has GE Multilin relays from the late 1990s. Can we finance a relay replacement project?
Yes. A relay modernization project that replaces aging GE Multilin electromechanical or early digital relays with current-generation Multilin IEDs can be financed as a standalone transaction if the total is above $50,000. If the relay upgrade is part of a broader switchgear project, we can include it in the same package.
Can I do a cash-out refinance on GE Entellisys switchgear that we own outright to fund a separate project?
Yes, provided the Entellisys equipment has verifiable value and the transaction structure supports an advance against it. We review the age, condition, and current market value of the assembly, then determine how much we can advance. The proceeds can be used for any business purpose.
We are an electrical contractor who purchased GE switchgear for a client project. The client is on a 60-day payment term. Can we finance the purchase to bridge the gap?
Yes. Contractor bridge financing is a common structure for this situation. We finance the equipment purchase; you are repaid when the client pays the invoice or progress billing. The financing period typically aligns with the expected payment window.
